Arran Sunset

Rating: 3.55

This one will be my third beer from the Isle of Arran brewery following one from Arran Blonde and then Arran Dark, neither of which were bad beers. This is one I’ve spotted in the odd supermarket a couple of times of late before finally deciding to pick up a bottle and give it a try knowing it was quite likely it would happen at some point anyway. It was also on special which helped sweeten the deal somewhat along with the fact I’m always eager to try as many different Scottish beer as I can.

Appearance (4/5): A slightly cloudy, golden amber colour with a thumb sized, creamy white head that slowly reduces to just under that and leaves some nice lacing. A good looking beer.
Aroma (7/10): Light citrus and quite hoppy with some good floral notes and a sort of fruity, malt base backing this up.
Taste (6/10):
Again quite a hoppy tasting beer with some summer fruits in the mix and a fair amount of citrus thrown in too. There is some malts, a touch of bitterness and some light floral notes rounding things off.
Palate (4/5):
Medium and smooth with a slightly bitter feel and moderate carbonation.

Overall (13/20): A nice tasting pale ale, it was a lot like Deuchars IPA upon first tasting and had a good mix of fruit and hops along with a nice, well balanced bitterness to it.
